Criminal law is probably the earliest law we ever came to know about even before we knew what law actually is. We all have seen detective show, crime solving shows in our childhood and have known about police, jail, judge, trial as a lay person. We are not kids anymore, and now we are the member of legal fraternity who are expected to be aware of criminal law- the subject which is so connected to the society. Criminal law is kicked into action when FIR is lodged and when the police proceed with the investigation of the case. The entire process of investigation itself has many stages which are of vast importance at trial. The mandate of Criminal law is to provide fair trial to the accused and to the victim and one of the aspects of fair trial is to ensure fair investigation in the case.

With this course, we have made an attempt to explain the process of investigation, different steps involved and consequences of non-compliance of the procedure prescribed by law.

The entire course is divided into 3 lessons, with each lesson containing dedicated material for different topics. After you have studied the material, proceed to attempt the quiz given at the end of the lesson. The questions in the quiz are specially made to assess your conceptual clarity. You are advised to read the questions carefully, more than once if need be. Do not solve the quiz in a hurry.
